Pillar 02 · Shading

Motorized shading that disappears – until it doesn't.

Shades are the single biggest change to how a room feels day to night. Jimmy specifies the fabric in the room, picks Lutron motors that won't wake the household at sunrise, and programs schedules that follow the actual sun – not a static clock.

What's included

  • On-site fabric selection with full-size samples in the room at the time of day they'll be used
  • Motor selection – Lutron Sivoia QS for new construction, Lutron Palladiom for the most demanding installs, QMotion for retrofit
  • Hardwired power coordinated with the electrician at rough-in
  • Concealed pockets coordinated with the GC and drywall crew
  • Astronomical timeclock programming with seasonal glare tracking
  • Override keypads in the rooms that need them, app control everywhere else

Brands Jimmy works with

Lutron Sivoia QS for new construction, Lutron Palladiom for the most demanding installs, and QMotion for retrofit where running power isn't possible. Fabrics from The Shade Store, Phifer, Mermet, and Hartmann & Forbes – selected room by room.

How it gets done

Jimmy starts shading conversations at framing. Pocket details, conduit runs for power, and blocking for hardware all need to happen before drywall. He'll meet with your GC, your architect, and your interior designer to make sure the shade pockets read as architecture – not as an afterthought.

On programming day, Jimmy is in the house from sunrise to sunset to verify the schedules against actual sun angles. Living room shades come down before the western glare hits the sofa. Primary bedroom blackouts come up at the same time as the bedside lamps. The system works the way you live, not the way the manual describes.
